About Graeme >

Why a Councillor?

Why the Tory’s?

I was born in Belfast in 1969 and lived in County Antrim until 1997, when a new work related challenge brought me to East Kilbride.

A moved to Strathaven in September 2005, where I now live with my wife (Fiona) and our two sons (Mathew & Craig).

Fiona is involved in the Wester Overton PTA and runs the local Beaver group on a Thursday night in Strathaven.

I chaired the Meadowside Owners Association during 2006 and have been involved with the Strathaven & District Round Table since moving to Strathaven.

With over 20-years experience in the IT industry, working in partnership with the public sector, I intend to use this experience to work in partnership with he local community and South Lanarkshire Council to try and make Avondale and Stonehouse a better place for everyone.

In partnership with the Meadowside Owners Association and the local  residents of Meadowside (off Hamilton Road, Strathaven), we have made massive improvements in persuading the factor to improve their service and South Lanarkshire Council to repair damage to the adopted roads within Meadowside.

“I promised the people in Avondale, if they elected me to SLC, I would work on their behalf to secure a better deal for everyone!”

Now that I have this mandate from the voters in Ward-5, I will begin the challenge in partnership with not only my Conservative colleagues in South Lanarkshire Council but also local councillors, Bill Holman (SNP), Jim Malloy (Labour) and Lynn Filshie (Independent) to deliver on the premises I made before and during the election.

I’ve always stated that I am a team player and in partnership with Fiona, I intend to help everyone in Avondale and Stonehouse make this a truly fantastic place to live.
